Your privacy matters. Leenkat New Tab stores your data locally on your device and is designed with transparency, security, and user control in mind.
Last updated: August 1, 2026
Leenkat (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the Leenkat New Tab Chrome extension collects, uses, and stores information.
1. Information We Store
Leenkat New Tab stores your extension preferences locally using Chrome’s chrome.storage.local API.
This may include:
Saved websites
Website groups
Custom website icons (if configured)
Search engine preferences
Appearance and interface settings
Date, time, language, and personalization preferences
Backup metadata
All of this information is stored locally within your Chrome profile.
We do not transmit this information to Leenkat servers.
2. Website Favicons
When a website uses the Favicon icon option, the extension retrieves the website’s favicon using Google’s Favicon Service.
To retrieve the favicon, the saved website URL is sent to Google’s favicon endpoint.
This request is used solely to obtain the website icon.
Leenkat does not receive, store, or process these requests.
If you choose a Custom Icon URL, the extension loads the image only from the URL that you explicitly provide.
3. Search
When you perform a search from the extension, your search query is sent directly to the search engine you selected.
Supported search providers include:
Google
Bing
DuckDuckGo
Yahoo
Brave Search
Ecosia
Startpage
Qwant
Yandex
Custom Search URL
Leenkat does not intercept, record, or store your searches.
4. Data Collection
Leenkat New Tab does not collect:
Personal information
Browsing history
Analytics
Usage statistics
Crash reports
Advertising identifiers
Tracking information
5. Remote Services
The extension does not use remote executable code.
The only external requests performed by the extension are:
Requests to your selected search engine when you perform a search.
Requests to Google’s Favicon Service when the Favicon option is used.
Requests to Custom Icon URLs that you explicitly configure.
6. Permissions
Leenkat New Tab requests only the following Chrome permission:

The extension does not request:
tabs
activeTab
host permissions
optional permissions

bookmarks
7. Data Sharing
Leenkat does not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties.
8. Security
Your extension data remains stored locally within your Chrome profile.
Because no Leenkat servers are used for synchronization or analytics, your data remains under your control.
